How to use Dog Phenotype Database (DogPD) ?
1. Browse data

DogPD enables users to access GWAS curated data (phenotype,alleles &disease), breed and disease information.

1.1 Phenotype, Alleles & Disease

The phenotype, alleles and disease information curated from public papers. The mainly curated information includes chromosome, position, dbSNP rsid, the referred species/population, disease trait, effect allele, OR value, P value, the reported gene symbol and PMID.

1.2 Breed

DogPD collects breed information from 5 websites includes AKC, UKC, CKC, UC, FCI and Wikipedia. The name of breed is integrated and the basic information of each breed curated manually. DogPD provides three ways to browse the breed data, that are breed group, breed name starts from A to Z , and the geographic distribution of breed.

1.2.1 Breed Group

DogPD provides 10 types of breed group. The breed group information curated manually from the above 5 websites. Click each group, a breed list shows instantly.

1.2.2 Dog Breeds A to Z

The breed name starts from A to Z provides as follows. User click the letter such as A, the breed name starts with letter A will be shown.

1.2.3 Dog Breed of the World

DogPD provides 5 continents that are Europe, America, Asia, Africa, Oceania. Click the country of each continents, the breed list will be shown.

1.2.4 The detail information of breed

Click the breed name, the detail information will be shown which includes 6 parts.

The general information part introduces the personality, energy level, shedding, grooming and other basic information about this breed. Besides, the other name of breed also includes.

The breed registries part includes the breed recognized by the international kennel club.

The associated disease part includes disease name, the associated gene, disease level information.

The associated SNP information includes the SNP information associated with this breed from DogSD.

The breed standards part includes the breed standard file which provided by the accordingly kennel club.

The reference part includes the information source of this breed.

1.3 Disease

DogPD provides dog disease information for users to access. The disease information integrated from several websites such as OMIA, CIDD and the dog place.

The disease list shows as follows, which includes the disease name, disease description, the associated gene and reference paper.

1.3.1 The Disease Detail Information

There are three parts in the disease detail information includes the basic information, associated disease in other database such as OMIA, and the associated breeds.

In basic information part, provides the disease description, inherit mode, disease symptom, disease cause and other information which curated manually from the public disease resource. User can click the link of disease description to open the disease source.

Associated Disease part provides the disease information which curate from OMIA database.

Associated Breeds part provides the breed information which also have this disease.

2. Search data

To help users get required data easily, DogPD provides several search interface.

2.1 Phenotype, Alleles & Disease

Users can search the phenotype, alleles& disease information by genome location, gene information and disease trait.

2.2 Breed

Users can search breed through breed name, temperament, size, trainability, weight, height, life expectancy, good with children, grooming and shedding.

2.3 Disease

Users can search the disease information by disease name, breed name, gene symbol, gene name and genome location.
