Title Transcriptome study of longevity population
Relevance Medical
Data types Transcriptome or Gene expression
Organisms Homo sapiens
Description Different from the vast majority of individuals who often suffer from the age-related diseases, longevity people (e.g. centenarians) exhibit unique characteristics of delaying or even escaping many serious age-related diseases (e.g. cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease, type-2 diabetes and cancer). Due to the ability to keep healthy throughout their entire lives, longevity people are excellent subjects for studying the mechanisms of healthy aging. We obtained and analyzed the transcriptomes of peripheral white blood cell of samples (centenarians, their offspring and spouses of offspring) from Chinese longevity families.
