Description Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a worldwide metabolic disease. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has more than 2,000 years of history and has been widespread applied in clinical treatments. Dendrobium nobile and Cyclocarya paliurus (DN and CP) were recorded as traditional edible and medicinal plant in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (National Pharmacopoeia Committee, 2015). Studies on DN/CP have revealed its potential functions focus on the anti-cancer, immune-stimulatory, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activity. However, there are few studies on the potential capacity of DN/CP on the diabetes mellitus. Furthermore, the mechanism of how the DN/CP ameliorates DM and its complications are still unknown. In this study, we performed transcriptional profiling analysis on the pancreas/liver/colon/thalami sourced from normal/diabetic/TCM-treated rats to investigate the possible molecular mechanism how DN/CP take effeorts on the DM.
