Description |
Pig is an major genetic model for elucidating transcriptional networks. Uncertainties about the complete structure of mRNA transcripts limit the progress of research in this system. Here, using the single-molecule sequencing technology for analysis the complexity of porcine transcriptomes, we obtained porcine reference annotation from 38 tissues. In parallel, messenger RNA of 8 tissues from the 38 tissues was sequenced on the Illumina PE125 platform to quantify gene or isoform expression. Here we combined NGS (short-read next-generation sequencing technology) and SMRT sequencing to generate a more complete full-lenth porcine transcriptome. Accordingly, this study highlights the splice isoforms and transcriptome diversity and dynamics, provides a valuable resource for further investigation of genome annotation, enhances our understanding of the porcine transcriptome. |
